PANDA Webcast for Expecting and New Parents
A recorded video webcast for all new and expecting parents, or anyone concerned about a loved one during pregnancy or the first year after birth.
As a new or expecting parent, caring for your own wellbeing can be a real challenge. It may be harder to do the things that supported your wellbeing before parenthood. Things like exercise, going out, time with others, time alone, work, or getting creative. But caring for your own wellbeing is more important than ever at this time of life. It can make you a better parent, and can help prevent or reduce perinatal mental health issues.
Illnesses like anxiety and depression are common, affecting up to one in five mums/birth parents, and one in ten dads/nonbirth parents. They can start during pregnancy or in the 12 months after birth. Self-care includes reaching out for help, if you are struggling. Getting the right support early is the best thing you can do for yourself, your baby and family. In other words, caring for yourself is caring for your baby.
This webcast includes stories from parents who’ve been there, tips to support your wellbeing from PANDA Helpline counsellors, where to start if you need help for yourself or a loved one, support options and how PANDA can help.
